My name is John Fontana and I have been an enthusiastic photographer for as long as I can remember. About twelve years ago, I had a break but then the passion was re-ignited.
I work in film in 35 mm and medium and large format, and with digital cameras also. Black and white photography is my favourite medium and I use post processing in an attempt to arrive at my pre-visualisation of the scene before my camera lens. I especially enjoy using monochrome film for what I believe is its greater expressivity and for the tactile pleasure of home developing with the buzz I get every time I lift a film from the developing tank.In my photography I try to reveal what might not otherwise be seen, with images that have a narrative and can connect with the viewer.
